The iconic MINI station wagon comes to its end of production, and MINI of Knoxville is sad to see it go. Here, we look back at the model and its importance in MINI history.
Looking Back: the MINI Clubman
The MINI Clubman was based on the silhouette of the early 1970s, when the limited-production estate version of the timeless classic was introduced: the Austin Seven Countryman and the Morris Mini Traveller. Following the model's rebirth in 2007 – 25 years after production ended on the original MINI Clubman – it was the first MINI to offer five seats.
Oak Ridge, TN, may recall that the MINI Clubman was also the first vehicle to integrate the intelligent "Clubdoor" design. The pillarless door design ensures easy access for rear passengers and loading cargo. The MINI Clubman offered enhanced cargo space and a true four-door design in the vehicle's third generation. It also offered an eight-speed Steptronic transmission for the first time in a MINI model.
The MINI Clubman Final Edition is the culmination of heritage, sportiness, and playfulness that embodies the model's storied history. This model made it easy to stand out around Lenoir City, thanks to features like 18-inch Final Edition two-tone wheels and 'Final Edition' lettering on the rear. With low production numbers – just 1,969 total produced – it is one of the most desirable MINI Clubman models yet.
