The first electric car to come from MINI will be introduced early next year, and to tease the vehicle's abilities the company recently revealed a television ad showcasing a prototype model pulling a cargo plane. This hot hatchback promises to be a muscular marvel that changes the way we look at electric mobility going forward.

In the commercial, the MINI Cooper S E was attached to a Boeing 777F cargo plane at the Frankfurt airport in Germany. While the vehicle started a bit slow, it quickly found its mettle and was able to drag the plane down the runway. This ad promises to be the first in a series of teasers intended to highlight the car's power, helping to disprove the myth that electric cars aren't strong enough to tackle the everyday tasks.

The electric powertrain is expected to generate 184 horsepower, and ride on the vehicle's front axle. With loads of instantaneous torque in hand, there shouldn't be any lag in getting it in motion. The Cooper S E is expected to look much like a typical MINI Cooper, with the addition of more accent lights and a closed up grille adding slight design tweaks. We anticipate the vehicle to be fully revealed at the Frankfurt motor show in September, and promise to provide updates as we learn more about this exciting new model.
